Orion Technology Solutions is owned and operated by Gene Painter. Gene holds a BSEE degree from the University of Florida. From 1990 until 2001 Gene worked for Nortel Networks, first as a Software Designer and subsequently as a Ssoftware architect, a Development Manager, a Sales Engineer, a Senior Manager, and in Product Line Marketing. His time at Nortel gave him exposure to a broad range of technologies, including circuit switching, VOIP (Voice Over IP), Server Technology, and Cellular Technology. After his tenure at Nortel, Gene served as a database designer before venturing out on his own. Gene used the interest and skills that he had in doing computer and network support to start Orion Technology Solutions. The business plan of Orion is to serve the Iinformation Technology needs of small businesses. Small businesses tend to rely heavily upon technology but typically cannot justify hiring full-time information technology specialists. For companies like this, Orion Technology Solutions provides the services needed to deploy properly-configured networks and to keep them running smoothly. Orion's clientele includes companies involved in Real Estate, Mortgage, Appraisal, Legal Services, Accounting, Consulting, Insurance, etc. Although Orion is run primarily by Gene, he employs the services of other technology specialists as the time and situation may require.

Gene has been married to his wife, Nela since 1994. They live in McKinney. They have three children, David, Josephine, and Rebekah, and a fourth one due in October of 2005.
